Livestock
As well as haulage, the Grant family continues to maintain
its interest in farming and takes an active role in the agricultural side
of the business.
The farm is situated in Ballindalloch in the heart of Speyside and is located
along the banks of the world famous salmon river, the Spey. With its rich
green pasture and sheltered location it is the ideal place for raising cattle.
There is a long history of cattle farming in the area as Ballindalloch is
the original home of the world famous Aberdeen Angus breed.
Beef and pork are the mainstay of the farm which finishes over
10,000 heavy bacon pigs a year from its closed herd of 450 JSR sows and over
1,000 cattle from its herd of mixed breed sucklers.
The farm's produce supplies
some of the country's top hotels and restaurants whose buyers regularly visit
the farm to inspect the livestock.
